The Boise Valley Chapter of ARMA International was formed in 1973 to offer a forum for professional education, community awareness of the importance of records management, and to foster a sense of professionalism among its members. The chapter currently has more than 30 members that work within the records and information management professions.

December 7th 2023 Virtual Meeting: “All Sides Now: What is the Right Retention Period from Various Perspectives” Presented by Tom Corey, Esq., CRM, CIPP/US, CIPM

Overview: The objective of this presentation is to encourage the understanding of different priorities between various functions within an organization that impact the retention periods on records retention schedules and data policies in hopes of finding a solution that meets all needs.

Biography: Tom Corey is a Director with Harbor’s Information Governance Team. Much of Tom’s work involves assisting organizations in developing information governance policies and records retention schedules that are compliant with domestic and international laws, regulations, and data privacy requirements.

Tom is an attorney, licensed in North Carolina, a Certified Records Manager (CRM), Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP / US), and a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPM). In 2021 and 2022, Tom received the Britt Literary Award for articles published in IM Magazine. Tom has served as an ARMA Chapter President for the Charlotte – Piedmont Group and is a frequent speaker at international and local ARMA events.

November 2023 Meeting: “BVC ARMA Chapter Meeting – 3 Things To Know About Info MGMT in AI” Panel with Jason Cassidy, Dave McDermott, & Moderated by Misty Perry
