SUMMARY:November 2022 Meeting:  Book Smarts Meets Boot Smarts Discussion Panel
DESCRIPTION:This panel-style discussion will feature Andrew Ysasi\, the Vice President of Advocacy at VRC\, Dave McDermott\, Owner of Idaho RIM Consulting\, and Bruce Walters\, Director of Records Management at AECOM. During the discussion\, we will ask the audience to submit questions you have about implementing IG/RIM concepts at your companies/entities\, and the panelists will offer practical tips to help. A book-smarts/theory meets smart-boots-on-the-ground conversation\, meant to be interactive and engaging for everyone in attendance. With this group\, be ready to hear some great stories that will add real-world context to the concepts we collaboratively discuss. \nAndrew Ysasi\, MS\, CRM\, FIP\, FIIM\, CIPM\, CIPP\, CISM\, PMP\, IGP\, CIP\, has worked in information management since 2007 and is an expert on information governance and records management. As Vice President of Advocacy\, Andrew is tasked with mentoring\, educating\, volunteering\, and advocating for all matters related to information governance (IG). Andrew serves on various industry association boards and is currently the President of the Institute of Certified Records Managers (ICRM) and the President of IG GURU®\, an IG news organization to ensure relevant IG news is shared with the IG community. \nDave McDermott\, CRM\, FAI\, is an independent consultant\, providing information governance guidance and best practices to organizations. With more than 40 years’ experience in almost every facet of records and information management\, he is a Certified Records Manager\, Fellow of ARMA International\, and past president and chairman of the board for both ARMA International and the Institute of Certified Records Managers. \nBruce Walters\, CRM-NS\, is responsible for managing and accomplishing the integration of all legacy companies’ Records Management programs and retention schedules at AECOM\, where he has worked in records management for nearly 45 years. This involves training records coordinators at various offices in current methods for retaining and disposing of records. Bruce has been a Certified Records Manager for 30 years\, is the current Vice President of the Nuclear Information & Records Management Association (NIRMA)\, and is part of a select group with a CRM Nuclear Specialist certification.
